Tiddlers Babies - 24months
Nurturing & Responsive Infant Care
Highly responsive care early in life is critical to your child’s success in school, relationships and in life. La Petite Academy provides a safe environment where your little one will not only be loved and cared for, but where our highly trained nursery nurses will work to stimulate your baby’s cognitive, emotional and physical development through movement, exploration and one-on-one nurturing.
Preparing Your Baby Through Care & Play
In addition to providing care and play time throughout the day, your child’s key person will engage your child through:
Movement: Infants use their senses and bodies to learn about the world. The practitioner’s knowledge allows your baby to move and participate in physical development exercises. During this time the babies will access soft climbers, mats, balls, push and pull toys, instruments and much more.
Exploration: Manipulating objects and interacting with different materials helps babies learn early mathematics and science concepts like size, shape and texture, practising key skills such hand-eye coordination. During exploration your baby will play with small world resources and, inset puzzles, nesting cups and open-ended resources where imagination is not limited.
Relaxation: In this space, we quietly read books about people, animals and familiar objects and snuggle together with, soft toys and other cuddly objects.
Sensory Room: The Tiddlers can access the interactive sensory room located in the main nursery.
Baby Unit Outdoor Area: Babies access their own outdoor play area at the rear of the separate baby unit, where they can free-flow to their hearts content, providing lots of fresh air throughout the day.
The specialised Tiddlers unit at La Petite Academy is equipped with areas designed to stimulate your baby’s learning. The baby unit is in a separate building next to the main nursery and has its own access. The unit has a very light airy aspect, with a large low window which looks out onto the green. A second room where children can play on a soft carpeted area to access floor activities along with low level table top activities. The rear room within the unit is the messy room where lots of fun exploration happens thought out the day. The children will further their exploration skills though messy tactile activities, a cosy home corner, and lots more such as water and sand play.
There is access to an enclosed sheltered play area at the rear of the unit, with soft safety surfacing for crawlers. Here the Tiddlers will spend time enjoying fresh air around the smell of growing herbs and exploring further activities.
The nursery has three double buggies where the Tiddlers can explore their wider community visiting the park, ducks and much more.
Your Little One's Day
The unit has its own milk kitchen to ensure all your babies health needs can be met though sterilising, preparation of food depending on your child’s stage of weaning and other care routines that take place. All our food is prepared freshly onsite, even for the smallest of babies we ensure that the first stages of weaning are prepared carefully working in partnership with you the parent.
Changing Care Routine
There is a changing area where the Tiddlers bathroom routines are met with their key person taking opportunities to talk and sing with your little one, taking every opportunity to develop their communication and language skills.
The unit has various equipment to suit your child’s needs for sleeping, using safe chronical beds from The Community Play Resource Company for the younger babies and safe sleep mats for the older Tiddlers, ready for their transition into Toddlers. Your little one is always guaranteed a safe sleeping environment being supervised by our qualified Paediatric First Aid trained staff, they can feel rested and relaxed, whilst drifting off to tranquil music.
The Tiddlers’ progress and routines are monitored daily with a written report provided for their parents at the end of every day. This details how they have eaten, slept, and provides information about their personal care routine and how they have been throughout the day.
Based on your child’s development stage, we will discuss the transition to the main nursery when we feel they are ready to progress into the Toddlers room.
