Nursery Newsletter

Dear Mums & Dads

We are now in our busiest time of year for the nursery and we have lots to tell you!

Firstly, a huge thank you to everyone who came to our 21st Birthday Party! Both children and adults seemed to be having a lovely time and the feedback we had was really positive!

The photographs that Gazza’s discos took will be developed and handed out to those of you who got snapped!

For those of you who missed Christine’s speech on the night, we would like to tell you how important each and every one of you are to us and without your continued support we would not be as successful as we are today, so thank you very much!

Staffing
A huge congratulations to Sherridanne (Tweenies Key Person) who is expecting a baby girl and Kara (Nursery Assistant) who is expecting a baby boy, both due in September.
We are welcoming back Emma Harper who left us on maternity leave in 2008 and went on to have 3 children. She worked for us for 8 years and gained her NVQ levels 2 & 3 with us. Emma will be working Monday to Friday from 11am to 2pm to cover our busy lunch times.
And, well done to Demi (Nursery Assistant) who has completed her NVQ level 2 qualification!

Suggestions Board
You may have noticed the board in the porch which has been up for about a week. The purpose of this is to get your input on areas of the nursery. At the moment we are focussing on our outdoor areas as we can use them again to their full potential now that (hopefully) the wet, winter weather has passed. We have already developed our sensory garden and now that some of the things we have planted are starting to poke through the soil, the children are engaging really well with helping to water and look after them. We have purchased a climbing frame and targets for the children to develop their physical skills on the top garden area, as well as high street scenery to accompany the road layout.

If there is anything that you feel would benefit our outside area, please write your suggestions on the board – all contributions welcome!

Website
We have spent the last few months updating our website which is set to go live very soon! The new layout will include a daily menu so you can go to our site and check what food your child will be offered throughout the day, we have updated information, testimonies and photographs and are very excited to get it up and running! We have taken some lovely photographs of the children taking part in various activities which reflect their time at nursery. With the website being viewed by the public, we would like your permission to possibly put your child’s photograph on our website. We cannot guarantee that every child will appear on the website however we need to know who is allowed to go on, as we will be able to upload photographs ourselves. Please can you fill in and return the attached slip.

Menus
Thank you to those who contributed to our new menus! We are now on week 3 and the children seem to be liking the food so far…

Sainsbury’s Active Kids Vouchers
Thank you for helping us to collect 1,869 vouchers! These will go towards new equipment for the nursery which the staff and children are currently choosing.

Maintenance
The Breakfast & After-School Club has now been decorated, they have had a new storage cupboard built and had new tables and chairs. We have also had a list of resources that the Schoolers would like, which we are trying to make our way through!

The ‘animal wall’ at the top of the corridor has now been replaced with a farm animal scene which is providing a great talking point for children of all ages as they make their way outside and to the bathroom.

The wood effect flooring in all the base rooms is being replaced next weekend, the bathroom and porch areas are being tiled and we are having a lovely new carpet for the corridor.

Holidays & Absences
We know that with the Summer coming up many of you will be taking the opportunity to have a well-deserved break with your families or spending some time at home with your little ones. If your child is going to be absent from nursery, please can you let us know at your earliest convenience as it can have an effect on ratios and meals prepared, especially if your child has a dietary requirement.

Funding
The Government 15hours funding ends on Friday 8th July for 2, 3 & 4 year olds.

If this is your child’s last term with us before starting school, may we remind you that we require 4 weeks written notice to terminate their place (if we do not receive your notice in time, you may be charged for the sessions there after). We ask that all accounts are cleared before your child leaves us.

Funding for the new term will begin on Monday 5th September.

Dates for your diary…
Monday 6th June – Preschool Graduation photographs (preschool only). If your child is leaving us to go to school, they can come in to have their photograph taken in between 9:00am and 11:00am in a graduation cap and gown by Andy Brown Photography.

Friday 10th June – The Queen’s 90th Birthday Celebrations. ‘The Queen & her guard’ have popped in to the porch to invite you to celebrate her birthday with us with a right Royal knees up! We’re planning an afternoon tea garden party with cucumber sandwiches, cakes and pink lemonade (weak juice & sparkling water!), crown decorating and flying the flag as well as many other patriotic activities!

W/C Monday 13th June – Mum’s week. You should all have received a slip with the day that you can come in on. We have had a huge response to this week and are fully booked up for the week! We look forwards to seeing you!

Wednesday 29th June – Safari day. The nursery will have a safari theme for the day with lots of animal based activities, look out for the poster nearer the time for more details.

Tuesday 19th July – People Who Help Us. More information will follow but we aim to dress up as Police Officers, Doctors, Nurses, Fire Fighters, Lollipop People, Dentists and more to acknowledge the people who help us. If you or anyone you know could come and visit the children on this day with some information about how their job helps us then we would be very grateful!

We hope you all have a wonderful summer, and Good Luck to all of our school leavers!

If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Kind Regards

Helen Poyser
