Preschool 3-4 Years

Preparing Your Child For School

At La Petite Academy, we now start to concentrate on school-readiness activities. Our preschool day is designed to develop important foundational skills like language and literacy, mathematical thinking and problem-solving while stimulating your child’s creativity.

Your Preschooler’s Day

In addition to providing standard care and play time throughout the day, your child’s key person will engage your child through:

Morning and Afternoon Circle time where the day’s themed focus activities are introduced and reviewed.

Creative Activities - painting, baking, junk modelling etc

Maths, Language & Literacy activities tied to the Early Years Foundation Stage to progressively build important foundational skills.

Music and movement (songs, poems and rhymes) to expand your child’s vocabulary and listening skills.

Outdoor play at least twice daily to burn off energy and develop motor skills, including water and sand play.

Mealtime, snack time and quiet time to nourish and rest your preschooler’s growing mind and body.

Sensory Room A visit to our specialised Sensory room to explore light, sound, with a wealth of sensory experiences to stimulate the mind.

Government Flexible Funding Entitlement For 3 & 4 Year Olds

This is a government funded scheme which allows La Petite Academy to offer up to 15hrs/30 hrs (depending on family circumstances) of funded childcare each week during school term time which equates to 38 weeks per year, or stretched over 52 weeks a year.

Parents are entitled to access the full entitlement across a maximum of 2 providers.

Parents have the choice of hours deducted from their invoice or to just access the funded hours per day. Funded hours can be deducted from full days, morning sessions, and afternoon sessions.

Charges will revert to full nursery sessions as per the pricing schedule for any periods where eligibility is not maintained or where parents wish to access additional childcare hours. All parents will be required to sign a contract with the nursery together with an agreement with the Local Authority in order to access the funding.

Eligibility

All children are eligible for at least 15 hours of funding the term after they become 3 years of age:

A child born on
or between...

1 April and 31 August

1 September and 31 December

1 January and 31 March

Will become eligible for
a funded place from...

1 September, following their third birthday

1 January, following their third birthday

1 April, following their third birthday

Funded early education places are available at a range of early years settings, including nursery schools and classes, children’s centres, day nurseries, playgroups, pre-schools and certain registered childminders.

There are a number of parameters within which the funded entitlement provision operates. These parameters set the framework within which local authorities should deliver this entitlement (e.g. the minimum and maximum number of hours per day, the number of days on which the funded hours should be taken, the restrictions on start and finish times and the number of providers who can be involved in delivering free hours to a child). The parameters are guidelines for local authorities rather than specific rules for provision of the free hours, so the arrangements of provision may vary from area to area.

Please ring us for details of how you can use your Funded Entitlement at La Petite Academy - giving you more flexibility and affordable childcare. We have a varied range of options where you can use your funded hours at the nursery.
